Appealing to actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay to join the AIADMK-led alliance to defeat the DMK, former AIADMK minister KT Rajenthra Baalaaji on Sunday said that otherwise, the TVK would be crushed by the DMK in the upcoming assembly election.
Even as Vijay has spurned any tie-up with the AIADMK, criticising its alliance with the BJP, Baalaaji told reporters in Virudhunagar that the actor-turned-neta should reconsider his decision of going solo. “Vijay should join hands with the AIADMK under the leadership of Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), not only to defeat the DMK at the hustings, but also in the interest of saving the TVK. If the TVK fights alone, it will get crushed by the DMK,” he said.

“TVK contesting on its own would be seen by the people as only helping the DMK. And the TVK winning without an alliance and forming a government will be a pipedream and never fructify,” he said, adding that all the efforts of Vijay would turn futile.
At the TVK’s Madurai conference, Vijay has lambasted the AIADMK for ‘pledging the party with the fascist and anti-Tamil BJP. Further, he has been luring AIADMK supporters, claiming the legacy of AIADMK founder and iconic actor MGR and Dravidian icon ‘Anna’ CN Annadurai.
