Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav expressed happiness that on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on 17 September, Madhya Pradesh achieved first position in the country in blood donation, and sickle cell screening campaigns.

The CM stated that 14573 units of blood were collected in MP during voluntary blood donation drives across the state, and this was the highest amongst all states.

Similarly, MP carried out 20379 screenings of beneficiaries for sickle cell disease in a single day, which was also the highest in the country.

Quoting figures of the Government of India’s daily state-wise report, as of 17 September 2025, state government officials said that Madhya Pradesh ranked first with 20379 sickle cell screenings. Odisha followed with 10851 and Maharashtra with 10821 screenings, ranking second and third, respectively.

In blood donation, Uttarakhand ranked second with 5065 units and Rajasthan third with 3530 units, respectively.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav also appealed to the citizens, women, girls, and parents of the state to take maximum advantage of the services and camps associated with the ‘Swastha Naari – Sashakta Parivaar’ (Healthy Women – Empowered Family) campaign.

He said that with determination and concerted efforts, MP will continuously improve health services and become the leading state in the country in health status, including the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) indices.

Under the ‘Healthy Women – Empowered Family’ campaign, more than 20,000 health camps are being organized at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and community health centres across the state to provide comprehensive health checkups and treatment for women.

These camps offer free checkups, consultations and treatment. Prenatal checkups for pregnant women, enrolment on the Anmol 2.0 portal, vaccinations, anaemia screening and treatment for adolescent girls, nutrition and menstrual hygiene information and screening for sickle cell and other non-communicable diseases are being provided.

Diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis and leprosy, mental health, eye, dental, and hearing disorders are also part of the campaign. Eat Right Programs, Nutrition Month activities, yoga, and wellness camps are also being organized during the campaign. A campaign to provide nutrition and support to TB patients is also underway under the ‘Nishkashaya Mitra campaign’. Blood donation camps are also being organized across the state from 17 September to 2 October.
