Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday launched the Swachhata Hi Seva Fortnight 2025 at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College campus in Raipur, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. On the occasion, he flagged off door-to-door garbage collection vehicles dedicated to strengthening urban cleanliness initiatives.

Leading by example, Sai picked up a broom and joined in cleaning the premises, underlining the importance of civic responsibility.

“Clean surroundings are a collective duty. The fortnight will witness cleanliness activities across Chhattisgarh, and I appeal especially to the youth to participate actively,” he said.

The Chief Minister added that awareness and voluntary efforts were essential to bringing about social change.

Recalling Modi’s vision of a clean India, Sai noted, “The Prime Minister has always prioritised cleanliness as a national goal. We must carry forward this mission with responsibility and commitment.”

During the programme, the Chief Minister inspected stalls set up by the Urban Administration Department, interacting with women members of self-help groups and reviewing livelihood initiatives.

He also visited stalls on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, CSPDCL, CREDA’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, and waste management models, while appreciating products made by women’s collectives.

Sai further encouraged vendors linked to the Khushiyon Ka Thela scheme and distributed UPI sound boxes to promote digital payments.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, MLA Rajesh Munat, MLA Sunil Soni, and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey were present, along with citizens who joined the launch event.
