Fans of Ajith Kumar were in for a shock on 17 September when the actor’s latest hit, ‘Good Bad Ugly’, suddenly disappeared from Netflix in India.
The Tamil action-drama, which had been streaming for just four months, is no longer accessible on the platform. The reason is a legal dispute over songs by the legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja.

The drama began earlier this year when Ilaiyaraaja alleged that the film’s producers had used three of his songs without permission. In April 2025, he sent a legal notice to Mythri Movie Makers.
He demanded ₹5 crore in compensation and asking them to remove the tracks ‘Ottha Ruba Tharen’, ‘En Jodi Manja Kuruvi’, and ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’ from the movie.
This case caught the attention of the courts. And, earlier this month, Justice N Senthilkumar ordered that the songs must not be featured in the film.
As a result, Netflix pulled the movie from its library, though the streaming giant has not released an official statement.
‘Good Bad Ugly’ marked a notable venture for Mythri Movie Makers. This came as their first Tamil-language production. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film stars Ajith Kumar. Other casts include Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, Sunil, Prabhu, Prasanna, Karthikeya Dev, Priya Prakash Varrier, Jackie Shroff, Shine Tom Chacko, Tinnu Anand, B. S. Avinash, and Raghu Ram.
The story revolves around a retired gangster who returns to his violent past after his son undergoes wrongful conviction.
Its official title, ‘Good Bad Ugly’, was revealed in March 2024. Principal photography began in May in Hyderabad, with portions filmed in Spain, and shooting wrapped by early December.
