The Panitanki border, which serves as a vital lifeline for daily travellers and for India–Nepal trade and commerce, has experienced slowed passenger movement in recent days. Limited trade of essentials and restricted people’s movement had been permitted as a precautionary measure to maintain peace and security on both sides of the border. Due to the slow movement of goods and people, an economic impact had been felt by communities on either side.

With the full reopening of the border, normalcy is expected to return gradually to trade and cross-border movement between India and Nepal, restoring the vital link between the two nations.
