Delhi: Fatal accident on Ring Road claims one life, five injured

A tragic accident on Ring Road near Delhi Cantt Metro station led to one death and left five injured earlier in the day, causing major traffic congestion from Dhaula Kuan towards the Metro station, police said on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Navjot Singh, police said.

According to the police, three PCR calls were received alerting authorities to a traffic jam caused by a BMW car that had turned sideways on the road near Metro Pillar No. 67. A motorcycle was also found standing near the road divider at the scene.

With the information received, a team immediately reached the spot.

Eyewitnesses to the accident stated that the BMW was being driven by a woman who reportedly collided with the motorcycle.

“Following the collision, the woman and her husband reportedly hired a taxi and rushed the injured parties to a nearby hospital,” the eyewitness said.

Shortly after, hospital officials confirmed one patient had succumbed to injuries while others were receiving treatment.

Both the BMW driver and her husband also sustained injuries and were admitted to the hospital for medical care.

The police have seized the involved vehicles and a crime team examined the accident site.

As part of the investigation, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, along with the Crime Team, was also called in to inspect the crime scene.

Further investigation into this case is awaited, police said.
