After a wet start in September, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are headed for a dry spell in the coming days with an overcast sky and gusty winds, according to the weather department’s forecast on Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a partly cloudy sky with sustained surface winds of 15-25 kmph gusting to 40 kmph during the next three days over Delhi.

In contrast to last week, the weather is likely to be hot and humid with scant chances of rain over the next few days.

According to the Met Department, the temperatures in the city are expected to climb up with the maximum temperature soaring up to 36 °C while the minimum stands at 10 notches below at 26 °C.

On Wednesday, IMD recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C, nearly 2°C above the normal for the previous day at the city’s base weather station. While no major change was noted for the minimum temperature at the Safdarjung Station, which settled at 25.9°C.

With humidity ranging from 59 to 87 per cent, Delhi experienced hot and humid weather on Wednesday, adding to the city’s discomfort.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with the capital’s average AQI in the past 24 hours on Wednesday standing at 80, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
