Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a day-long visit to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday when he will host Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi and review the flood situation in Uttarakhand.
At 11:30 am in Varanasi, PM Modi will host Ramgoolam, who is on a state visit to India from September 9-16. The meeting will focus on strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in development partnership, capacity building, health, education, science & technology, energy, infrastructure, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, and the blue economy.

Later in the day, PM Modi will travel to Dehradun, where he will undertake an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Uttarakhand at 4:15 pm. He will chair a high-level review meeting with officials at 5 pm to assess the situation and coordinate relief efforts.
The meeting between PM Modi and his Mauritian counterpart Ramgoolam in the historic city of Varanasi underscores the enduring civilizational connect, spiritual bonds and deep-rooted people-to-people ties that have shaped the special and unique relationship between India and Mauritius.
During the bilateral discussions, the two leaders will review the full spectrum of cooperation, with particular focus on development partnership and capacity building. They will also discuss opportunities for expanding collaboration in health, education, science & technology, energy, infrastructure as well as in emerging domains such as renewable energy, digital public infrastructure and the blue economy.
Ramgoolam’s visit built on the momentum generated by PM Modi’s state visit to Mauritius in March, which elevated the bilateral relationship to an “Enhanced Strategic Partnership.” Mauritius is a key partner in India’s MAHASAGAR vision and “Neighbourhood First” policy, and the deepening cooperation between the two countries will contribute to the prosperity of both nations and the collective aspirations of the Global South.
