In a two-week-long meticulously planned source-based operation against narco-terror networks under the ongoing ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Faridkot Police dismantled an international drug cartel run by Pakistan-based smugglers.
Two key traffickers were arrested, and 12.1 kg of heroin was seized from their possession, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said here on Tuesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sukhpreet Singh, a resident of village Jhariwala in Faridkot, and Kadar Singh, a resident of village Waan in Ferozepur.
DGP Yadav said preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers, indicating a larger transnational smuggling network.
The consignment, smuggled across the border, was recovered from village Jhariwala under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sadar Faridkot.
A thorough investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages to expose the full nexus, he added.
Sharing operational details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faridkot, Dr Pragya Jain, said that acting on reliable inputs about drug smuggling, teams from Police Station Sadar Faridkot and Police Post Golewala, under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Sandeep Kumar and DSP Faridkot Tarlochan Singh, arrested the accused with 12.1 kg heroin near Sukhpreet Singh’s house in Jhariwala, while they were on their way to deliver the consignment.
She said the probe has revealed that Pakistan-based smugglers were using drones to push large heroin consignments into Indian territory, which were then supplied further by the arrested traffickers.
The SSP added that further investigation is underway to identify others linked with Pakistan-based handlers, and raids are already being conducted. More recoveries are likely in the coming days.
An FIR (No. 212 dated 08.09.2025) has been registered under Sections 21 and 23 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Faridkot.
