Though floodwaters have receded from Delhi’s low-lying areas, the misery of thousands of families lingers, with homes gutted and belongings destroyed. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged the BJP-led Delhi Government to provide immediate compensation, stressing that the poorest have borne the heaviest brunt of the disaster and deserve urgent relief.

Kejriwal has appealed to the Delhi Government to provide urgent relief to flood-affected families, stressing that thousands of people have not been able to attend work for several days. “Such people must be given Rs 18,000 in financial aid, equivalent to the minimum wage set by the Delhi Government,” he said.

Highlighting the plight of farmers, the AAP Chief said, “In this flood, a large part of the farmers’ crops has been destroyed. These crops are their only source of livelihood, and their destruction has created a food crisis for them. It is the responsibility of the Delhi Government to compensate them. I appeal to the government to provide at least ₹20,000 per acre in compensation for crop losses.”

He further demanded that children of flood-affected families be provided with new books, notebooks, and school supplies, and that special camps be organised to help families whose important documents were washed away so they can get them reissued. He also insisted that compensation be given for other losses incurred due to the floods after proper assessment.
