The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will elect a new set of office-bearers, including the President and Secretary, at its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 28. Interestingly, the date coincides with the T20 Asia Cup final in Dubai, meaning none of the BCCI officials will be present for the summit clash of the continental tournament—even though India are the official hosts.
In a communique to state associations, secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that elections will be held for the posts of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. Representatives of the Apex Council from the General Body and the Indian Cricketers’ Association will also be elected.

“Notice is hereby given that the 94th Annual General Meeting (hereinafter referred to as ‘AGM’) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (‘BCCI’), will be held at 11.30 AM on September 28, 2025, at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, to transact the business as per the agenda provided below,” the notice stated.
It added that the minutes of the 93rd AGM (September 29, 2024), the Special General Meeting on January 1, 2025, and another on March 1, 2025, are attached, with the rest of the agenda papers to follow shortly.
The agenda also includes elections for two members of the IPL Governing Council, one representative from the Indian Cricketers’ Association, and members of the Women’s Premier League Committee.
Additionally, appointments will be made for the Ombudsman and Ethics Officer, while the Standing Committee, Cricket Committee, and Umpires’ Committee will also be constituted.
Veteran administrator Rajeev Shukla, who recently took over as interim BCCI president after Roger Binny stepped down upon turning 70 on July 19, is considered a front-runner for the top post. However, sources suggest that a former India cricketer may emerge as a strong challenger.
Former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary is also expected to contest for a key position, possibly the IPL chairman’s role. Current IPL chairman Arun Dhumal will step down for a mandatory three-year cooling-off period after completing six years in office, including his previous stint as BCCI treasurer.
Saikia, who has completed three years in office (two years and three months as joint secretary and nine months as secretary), is likely to retain his position. Joint secretary Rohan Gauns Desai and treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia, both in their first year, are also expected to continue. As a result, the elections will primarily focus on the President and Vice-President posts.
Ahead of the AGM, a high-stakes meeting is expected to finalise the list of candidates.
However, uncertainty remains over whether the newly elected office-bearers will serve a full three-year term or only until the impending Sports Bill – expected to take effect in six months – supersedes the current constitution. For now, the BCCI has chosen to adhere to the Supreme Court-approved Lodha Committee recommendations.
