All eyes on NDA’s ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting on Tuesday
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party meeting, now called 'Mangal Milan', will be held on Tuesday at Parliament House.
As per a release issued by the office of the returning officer, the accepted candidates whose nominations were found valid include C P Radhakrishnan, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate and current Governor of Maharashtra, and Buchireddy Sudershan Reddy, the Opposition’s candidate and a former Supreme Court judge.

The vice-presidential election, scheduled for September 9, cleared its first hurdle after the scrutiny of nomination papers as out of 68 nomination papers filed by 46 candidates, only two candidates’ papers were found valid and accepted by the Returning Officer and Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha.

The election will be held in Parliament House, with a total of 782 members of both Houses of Parliament eligible to vote. The winner will be determined through a secret ballot using the single transferable vote system.

The NDA’s numerical advantage in Parliament gives C P Radhakrishnan an edge, but the Opposition’s unified support to B Sudarshan Reddy could influence the outcome. The results will be announced on September 9, 2025, after the polling and counting process.
