Launching a strident attack on the INDIA bloc parties, Union Home Minister and BJP stalwart Amit Shah on Friday said that the agenda of DMK president and Chief Minister MK Stalin to coronate his son to succeed him and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s plan to make her son the prime minister will remain a pipe dream.
“Udhayanidhi can never ever become the chief minister and likewise Rahul can never aspire to be the prime minister. The NDA will stymie that. Their dreams will remain pipe dreams,” he said addressing the booth-level agents of four southern districts at Tirunelveli in the evening.

Uprooting the DMK and removing the Stalin government, steeped in corruption, is the priority of the NDA, comprising the BJP and the AIADMK, he said, adding that it was possible. “In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP secured 18% votes while the AIADMK received 21% votes. The combined vote share of the two come to 39%, which is enough for the NDA to capture power,” he pointed out, quoting past election data to enthuse and infuse hope in the party functionaries and cadre whom he urged to hold street corner meetings and door to door campaign, particularly among the Dalits and the marginalised.
The home minister came down heavily on the Opposition for opposing the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, paving the way for removal of those tainted on remaining in prison for 30 days. “Stalin babu has termed it Black Bill, because his government has been engaging in Black deeds. You have no right to oppose it. DMK Ministers K Ponmudy and Senthil Balaji have been in jail for long,” he said and asked, “Should the government be run by those behind the bars? Can the corrupt run the state?”
Playing on Tamil sentiments, he said the BJP had elevated CP Radhakrishnan as the vice presidential candidate. “He will preside over the next session of the Rajya Sabha. Earlier, it was the BJP government which had made APJ Abdul Kalam president, he said.
