Nearly 60,000 SC/ST MSMEs onboarded on GeM: MoS

The Centre has stepped up efforts to digitally empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including those led by Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) entrepreneurs, through a series of e-commerce and online marketing initiatives.

The Centre has stepped up efforts to digitally empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including those led by Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) entrepreneurs, through a series of e-commerce and online marketing initiatives.

As per the information shared by Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shobha Karandlaje, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the initiatives aim to integrate MSMEs with digital platforms and boost their market access.

MoS Shobha Karandlaje told as of August 15, 2025, the data shows significant progress 59,390 SC/ST MSMEs onboarded on the GeM portal, 24,970 SC/ST MSMEs registered on MSME Global Mart, 304 SC/ST MSMEs integrated through the MSME TEAM portal.

Among the key initiatives are the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for digitizing public procurement, the MSME Trade Enablement and Marketing (MSME TEAM) initiative for onboarding enterprises onto the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), and the Procurement and Marketing Support (PMS) Scheme, which provides financial aid for e-commerce sales.

Additionally, platforms such as MSME Global Mart, which is a B2B portal developed by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), and ekhadiindia.com, managed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), have been developed to expand global reach for MSMEs and village industries.

To encourage SC/ST participation, the National SC/ST Hub (NSSH) Scheme reimburses 80% of annual membership or subscription fees (up to ₹25,000) on Government-promoted e-commerce portals, the MoS told.
