The heavy rains have also brought the temperature down in the city, recording the maximum and minimum temperatures at 27.7 and 23.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, said the weather department.

Earlier in the day, a 50-year-old man travelling with his daughter lost his life after a massive tree in the middle of Kalkaji Road uprooted and fell on his vehicle, leaving the woman severely injured. The incident was captured on CCTV, in which the huge tree, inches away from the footpath, can be seen uprooting from the road and falling on unaware commuters.

Furthermore, heavy downpours in Delhi led to waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas, including Lajpat Nagar, Rohtak Road, Anand Parbat, Jahangirpuri’s GTK Depot, Adarsh Nagar, Old GT Road near Ring Road, Mathura Road’s Ashram-Moolchand stretch, and Dhaula Kuan-Gurugram Road.

The Delhi Traffic Police, in view of the ongoing weather conditions, have also issued a warning to the commuters, advising them to steer clear of waterlogged areas: “Due to the recent rains causing waterlogging at GTK Depot, Jahangirpuri, and Adarsh Nagar, traffic on Old GT Road is likely to be severely affected. To avoid congestion, commuters are advised to avoid taking Old GT Road and are requested to plan accordingly or take alternate routes,” it said in an ‘X’ post.
