The Network Planning Group (NPG), under the PM GatiShakti framework, has evaluated and cleared seven projects from the Ministries of Railways, Road Transport & Highways, and Textiles for their conformity with integrated multimodal infrastructure, last-mile connectivity, and a whole-of-government approach.

These proposals include one road/highway project, one Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), three railway capacity augmentation projects, and two PM MITRA textile parks. They are expected to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce travel times, and deliver socio-economic benefits to surrounding regions.

The Ministry of Railways will take up three major capacity augmentation projects aimed at improving freight efficiency, passenger movement, and regional connectivity. The Third and Fourth Line between Bakhtiyarpur and Fatuha in Bihar will add 24.156 km of track on the Kiul–Patna–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction corridor, enhancing connectivity for industries, agriculture, and tourism in the region.

The Fourth Line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, spanning 30.021 km, is designed to meet growing passenger and freight demand, supporting sectors such as cement, thermal power, steel, and agriculture.

In the “Energy Corridor” of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, the Fourth Line between Dongargarh and Gondia will cover 84.10 km, decongest Gondia Junction, and improve bulk freight movement.

In the road and logistics segment, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has proposed widening NH-39 from Rewa to Churhat Tunnel and Churhat to Sidhi in Madhya Pradesh, covering 54.2 km.

The project will link eastern Madhya Pradesh with the state capital, facilitating movement for the cement and coal industries in Singrauli and improving integration with multiple National Highways.

Additionally, the proposed Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Hyderabad, Telangana, will be developed over 315 acres at Parkibanda in Medak district.

With an initial cargo handling capacity of 1.47 million metric tonnes (MMT) by 2028, expandable to 19.98 MMT by 2070, the MMLP is strategically located near major industrial hubs and connected to NH-44 and the Manoharabad Railway Station.

Upon completion of the Regional Ring Road, it will have direct access to key freight corridors, including Mumbai and JNPT.

In the textiles sector, two PM MITRA Parks have been cleared to enhance India’s global competitiveness in the textile value chain. The proposed park in Madhya Pradesh will be located within the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor influence zone and provide end-to-end infrastructure, benefiting districts such as Dhar, Indore, and Ratlam.

The second park in Tamil Nadu, spread over 1,052 acres in Virudhunagar, will feature plug-and-play manufacturing units, Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) facilities, training centres, and social amenities. Both parks aim to create employment, boost exports, and drive regional development under the PM GatiShakti and Make in India initiatives.
