The police have claimed to have solved the case of the killing of the wife of a local BJP leader of Ajmer district on Saturday, holding that the deceased, Sanju, was killed by her politician husband.
A police spokesman said on Monday that the accused Rohit Saini, president of the BJP Salora (Ajmer) Mandal, was escorting his wife Sanju after celebrating Raakhi at his in-laws’ house. On the way home, he stopped at a secluded location, attacked his wife with a dagger and slit her throat.

However, with the motive to portray the incident as an act of miscreant looters, he inflicted injuries on himself. He also scattered the deceased woman’s ornaments around the murder spot.
The accused initially told the police that motorbike-borne looters had attacked them. However, later during the interrogation, has confessed to the crime, the spokesman said.
The couple was having a strained relationship, he said.
Now, the police were searching for Rohit’s associate in the crime.
