Having quit the NDA, expelled AIADMK leader and former Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday evening called on Chief Minister MK Stalin at the latter’s residence in the evening, triggering speculation of a possible alliance.
“Anything might happen in politics and at the time of elections. There are no permanent enemies or friends in politics,” was the response of OPS to a question from the media on a future alliance with the DMK, giving credence to that possibility. Emerging out of the Chief Minister’s residence, he however, maintained that the visit, accompanied by his son and former MP, Raveendranath, was to enquire about the health of Stalin and to personally offer condolences to the demise of MK Muthu, the Chief Minister’s elder brother.

“I have earned a name and dignity and self respect in my long innings in politics,” he said.

This is the second time that he is meeting the Chief Minister today. Earlier, he met Stalin during the Chief Minister’s morning walk. The second meeting comes, after OPS declared his exit from the NDA and made it clear that defeating the DMK is not his agenda. OPS is accompanied by his supporters including former MP, Gopala Krishnan.
OPS and Premalatha of DMDK visiting Stalin have set political tongues wagging about a realignment in Tamil Nadu.
