Three migrant workers died after falling into a sewage pit at a poultry waste treatment unit in Urangattiri, near Areekode, in Kerala’s Malappuram district on Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Hitesh Saranya (46) and Vikas Kumar (29), both from Bihar, and Samad Ali (20) from Assam.

According to police sources, the tragedy occurred when one of the workers reportedly lost consciousness due to suspected toxic fumes while cleaning a chemical tank.
Two others who rushed to rescue him also fell into the tank. All three were rushed to Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital but could not be saved.
Their bodies are currently kept at the hospital’s morgue. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
