Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister, Ravinder Indraj Singh, on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the drainage system in North West Delhi’s Deep Vihar and nearby areas, accompanied by officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and other concerned departments.
He directed officials to take immediate action if water-logging persists beyond the designated time after rainfall.

During the inspection, Indraj reviewed the condition of the drainage infrastructure and issued necessary instructions to ensure that residents do not face any inconvenience.
He also emphasized the need for continuous sanitation efforts to prevent blockages in drains and sewers, which often become a source of trouble for the public.
The Minister further stated that if any construction activity is contributing to water-logging, it must be addressed promptly, and builders should be directed to make appropriate arrangements.
He instructed the concerned departments to ensure the effective functioning of the drainage system and to facilitate timely water drainage following rainfall.
Indraj noted that due to the drain cleaning and desilting efforts initiated in advance this year, the situation has improved compared to last year, with rainwater receding more quickly.
However, he added that in the event of heavy rainfall, if water-logging still occurs, all departments must work in coordination to provide prompt relief in affected areas to minimize public inconvenience.
