Delhi Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Thursday announced the approval of development projects worth ₹65.55 crore to provide essential facilities in SC/ST settlements across the Capital.

Under the sanctioned funds, a total of 114 infrastructural works will be undertaken. These include the construction of roads and lanes, drains, community halls, chaupals and baraat ghars, renovation and electrification works, laying and repair of sewer lines, installation of colony gates, boundary walls, park walkways, and CCTV cameras in SC/ST bastis across various constituencies.

The minister said the projects align with the government’s vision of Antyodaya — the upliftment of the last person — aimed at improving the lives of the poorest and most disadvantaged sections of society.

Constituencies to be covered under these projects include Timarpur, Bawana, Sultanpuri, Mangolpuri, Tri Nagar, Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Vikaspuri, Bijwasan, Gandhi Nagar, Narela, Nangloi Jat, Shalimar Bagh, Moti Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Palam, RK Puram, Trilokpuri, Rohtas Nagar, and Ghonda.

Meanwhile, the minister accused the previous government of inaction, alleging that “there was neither regular monitoring of development works nor full utilisation of the allocated budget. As a result, these settlements lagged significantly behind.”
