Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, while responding to External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar’s statement in the Lok Sabha during the special debate on Operation Sindoor, on Monday, said the minister did not categorically deny US involvement in the ceasefire with Pakistan.
Instead, she said, he offered selective clarifications, stating only that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not spoken to US President Donald Trump during a specific period.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Vadra said, “There are certain things he has not categorically said. He made some statements but did not clearly state that the US was not involved in the ceasefire. He only mentioned that PM Modi did not speak to US President Trump for a certain period but did not categorically deny US involvement. That is interesting.”
Her remarks came after Jaishankar, while participating in the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, rejected President Trump’s claim that he had brokered the ceasefire between India and Pakistan during their four-day conflict in May this year, allegedly using trade leverage.
Jaishankar clarified that PM Modi received a phone call from US Vice President JD Vance on May 9, during which the Prime Minister made it clear that India would respond if an attack occurred.
“India foiled that massive attack. Our response was delivered,” Jaishankar said, reiterating that “there was no phone call between PM Modi and (Donald) Trump during this period.”
However, the minister did not elaborate on the circumstances under which President Trump made a sudden ceasefire announcement on May 10. In a social media post, Trump declared that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire brokered by his administration.
Within hours of his announcement, both India and Pakistan confirmed the ceasefire. While Pakistan thanked the US President for brokering peace between the two nations, India did not officially acknowledge his role and maintained that the cessation of firing was negotiated directly between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the Indian and Pakistani forces.
