Man arrested from Dhanbad for issuing death threat to Union Minister Sanjay Seth

A man, who allegedly issued death threats to Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth over phone, has been arrested by the Ranchi Police.

The accused, identified as Nityanand Pal, was traced to Hariharganj in the Dhanbad district.

Police officials confirmed that the minister had received five threat calls while attending Kargil Vijay Diwas events in Kashmir. The matter was reported to the Jharkhand Director General of Police by the minister himself, following which a technical investigation was initiated.

Acting on the instructions of DIG and SSP Ranchi Chandan Kumar Sinha, a team was constituted to locate the caller. Using electronic surveillance and mobile data analysis, the team tracked and apprehended the accused in Dhanbad.

Senior police officials said the motive behind the threats will become clear only after questioning the accused. A formal press briefing is expected, where details of the investigation and the man’s intent will be made public.

The Ranchi Police are bringing the accused to the state capital, where further proceedings will follow.
