The Election Commission of India (ECI) Thursday responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of cheating in the voter list revision process, calling them “baseless and threatening”.
In a post on handle X, the ECI highlighted that no appeals were filed with the DM/CEO of Karnataka regarding electoral rolls, and no election petitions were filed by losing INC candidates.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi claimed to have “100% proof” of manipulation in a Karnataka constituency, accusing the poll panel of allowing cheating in the voter list revision process. However, the ECI, in its counter, saied not a single appeal was filed with the DM/CEO of Karnataka under Section 24 of the RP Act 1950 regarding electoral rolls for the Karnataka Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The ECI further said that of the 10 election petitions, none were filed by losing INC candidates under Section 80 of the RP Act 1951. It expressed surprise at the baseless allegations, questioning why such claims were being made against the Chief Election Commissioner.
“ECI is wondering as to why such baseless and threatening allegations are being made against CEC and that too now?” the EC said. Earlier, it rejected similar allegations made by the Congress party, urging them to refrain from making irresponsible claims.
The development highlights the ongoing debate over electoral integrity and the role of the ECI in ensuring fair elections.
