Dharmendra Yadav criticizes UP Government over school mergers in Azamgarh

Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Parliament Dharmendra Yadav has voiced strong concerns over the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to merge schools in Azamgarh, calling the move problematic for students and their families.

In a letter addressed to the District Magistrate of Azamgarh on Wednesday, Yadav questioned the rationale and process behind the ongoing school mergers.

He highlighted that out of 2,706 schools in the district, 329 have been marked for merger. So far, orders have been issued to close 231 schools, while the remaining are either in the process of being shut down or merged with other institutions.

Yadav stressed that this decision will adversely affect thousands of students and their families. He demanded clarity on whether consent had been obtained from the parents of affected students before implementing the mergers.

Furthermore, he raised concerns about the reassignment of staff from the merged schools and requested detailed information from the District Magistrate regarding their new postings.
