A Court in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday convicted a man from Madhya Pradesh and sentenced him to undergo five years’ rigorous imprisonment on the charge of blackmailing a minor girl by uploading her nude pictures on a social media platform.

The case dates back to 2021, when Razak, after befriending the girl, shared explicit content with the complainant on WhatsApp.

The victim, then a minor, was preparing for the medical entrance test; she came in contact with Rajak through the social media platform Instagram. Gradually, they both developed close friendships, and they shared their Instagram ID and password.
However, with ulterior motives, Rajak changed the password of the Instagram account of the victim in the year 2021. During their conversation on social media platforms, Rajak induced the victim to share some of her nude photographs and videos, and out of faith, she shared the same with Aman.
Later, Aman shared nude photographs on the Instagram ID of the victim, intending to harass her. The complainant reported the matter in the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, and the victim’s ID was deactivated. However, Aman did not stop there. He shared the said explicit contents with the complainant on his WhatsApp, said the cybercrime wing of the police.
