The shooting inside a private hospital near Bihar Police headquarters in Patna has raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in Bihar, with Purnea MP Pappu Yadav demanding President’s rule in the state, where assembly polls are due in the next couple of months.
Yadav, who was stopped by police from visiting the hospital where the incident took place on Thursday, alleged that no one is safe in Bihar.

“I will request the Governor to impose President’s rule in Bihar. Nurses, doctors, no one is safe in Bihar. These leaders can do politics only on the basis of money. Criminals are selected on the basis of their caste, fake encounters are done. They protect the shooters,” the Purnea MP told media persons outside the hospital.
Yadav alleged that there is no administration in Bihar and claimed that the state is being ruled by the BJP and not Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“There is no such thing as administration in Bihar. They give shelter to mafias. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is not running the government. The BJP is running the government,” he added.
His scathing remarks come after a group of criminals casually walked into a private Hospital near police headquarters in Patna and opened fire at an inmate who was on parole for medical treatment.
The attackers fired multiple rounds at Chandan Mishra and fled the scene immediately after the attack, causing panic and chaos in the hospital.
This incident came close on the heels of several high-profile murders over the last few weeks, including the killing of BJP leader and prominent businessman Gopal Khemka in the state capital.
The Khemka murder was followed by the killing of another BJP leader, Surendra Kewat; prominent businessman Vikram Jha; and sand dealer Ramakant Yadav.
The murders have sparked severe criticism of the BJP-Nitish Kumar government in the state, with the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, asking if anyone is safe in Bihar.
“Government criminals stormed into the ICU and shot a patient admitted to the hospital. Is anyone anywhere safe in Bihar?” he said.
However, JD-U leader and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh has defended the government, saying such incidents can happen in any country.
“How many kidnappings used to happen in the state earlier? Incidents happen due to mutual disputes. They can happen in any country in the world, but here, action is taken immediately. The people who commit the incidents are arrested,” the minister said.
