The dialogue, attended by several startup founders and stakeholders, also served as a platform for exchanging ideas on how to make India’s deep-tech ecosystem more resilient and innovation-driven.
“The discussions reaffirmed our commitment to building a supportive and future-ready environment for emerging technologies and entrepreneurs,” the minister said.
The interaction came on the sidelines of the 10th meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC), chaired by Goyal, where he reiterated the government’s continued efforts to foster innovation across sectors and regions.
The Council meeting brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and startup representatives to deliberate on the path ahead for India’s startup ecosystem.
Goyal underscored the need to boost R&D, promote collaborative innovation, and extend support to startups in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as part of the broader national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
“Innovation is the foundation for reimagining India’s startup ecosystem,” Goyal said during the meeting, highlighting the need for joint efforts to nurture a vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.
The National Startup Advisory Council, established in January 2020, is tasked with recommending measures to support startups and enhance the innovation ecosystem. It comprises both official and non-official members from across the startup and industry landscape.
India’s startup ecosystem has witnessed significant growth in recent years. As of early 2025, the country has over 1.59 lakh DPIIT-recognised startups. Notably, 73,151 of these startups include at least one woman director, reflecting a steady rise in women-led entrepreneurship.
Between 2016 and October 2024, these startups have created more than 16.6 lakh direct jobs, according to government data.
