Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Skill India initiative, emphasizing its role in empowering millions of people with new skills and building opportunities.

Taking to platform X, Mr Modi said the program would continue to focus on equipping the youth with skills in line with global best practices. “The Skill India initiative has benefited countless people, empowering them with new skills and building opportunities,” he said, highlighting the program’s impact.

“In the coming times as well, we will keep focusing on equipping our Yuva Shakti with new skills, in line with global best practices, so that we can realise our dream of a Viksit Bharat,” he added, underscoring the government’s commitment to skill development.

“Skill India is strengthening the resolve to make our youth skilled and self-reliant,” PM Modi said in a separate post.

Launched in 2015, Skill India aims to provide vocational training to millions of youth, enhancing their employability and contributing to India’s economic growth. The initiative has trained over 1 crore candidates through various programs, including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

The Skill India initiative has made a significant impact on the country’s workforce, with many beneficiaries finding employment in various sectors. The government plans to continue its focus on skill development, with an emphasis on emerging technologies and industries.
