Under the guidance of Speaker Om Birla, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has launched several digital initiatives aimed at modernizing parliamentary functioning, enhancing transparency, inclusivity, and accessibility for both members and the public.
These developments were highlighted during an informal meeting, underscoring efforts to leverage technology for more efficient governance, according to a press note from the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Monday.

As part of these initiatives, a new feature now allows members to mark their attendance through Multi-Media Devices (MMDs) installed at their seats, streamlining the process and saving valuable time.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat is also using AI-based tools to publish daily parliamentary business and agenda papers in 12 languages. These documents are now accessible in real-time via the Digital Sansad portal, significantly improving multilingual access and transparency.
In collaboration with Bhashini, the Secretariat has developed an AI-driven tool for verbatim transcription of House proceedings, ensuring greater accuracy, faster processing, and multilingual support.
These initiatives reflect the vision of Speaker Om Birla, who has consistently emphasized the importance of integrating technology into governance. On March 18, Speaker Birla was present during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITY) for the development of the Sansad Bhashini initiative.
The digital initiatives are aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in parliamentary processes, improving accessibility for citizens and Members of Parliament, streamlining legislative documentation and proceedings, and fostering linguistic diversity and inclusivity.
Launched in March this year, the Sansad Bhashini initiative marks a significant step toward leveraging AI for parliamentary operations. It includes AI-based translation, speech-to-text conversion, and an interactive chatbot for retrieving procedural rules and documents.
