Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed his deep sadness over the passing of former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
In a heartfelt message shared on his handle X, PM Modi extended his condolences to the family, people, and government of Nigeria.

“Deeply saddened by the passing of former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. I fondly recall our meetings and conversations on various occasions. His wisdom, warmth, and unwavering commitment to India–Nigeria friendship stood out. I join the 1.4 billion people of India in extending our heartfelt condolences to his family, the people, and the government of Nigeria,” PM Modi said in his message.
Buhari, also a former military general who campaigned on rooting out government corruption, died in London on Sunday at age 82 after a prolonged illness.
PM Modi’s message reflects India’s solidarity with Nigeria during this difficult time, highlighting the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries.
