Jaideep Ahlawat, known for his intense on-screen roles, is quite the opposite when it comes to his real life; simple, rooted, and refreshingly candid, especially about his wife Jyoti Hooda.

The actor, who rarely speaks about his personal life, recently shared a slice of his love story on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, leaving the audience in splits.

Jaideep Ahlawat has been married to Jyoti Hooda for 16 years now. The couple shares a bond that goes way back to their days in Haryana, even before they both joined the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. Jyoti was his junior at the institute, but their story had already begun much earlier.

When Kapil Sharma asked Jaideep about how he proposed, the actor responded with his trademark honesty and wit. “Do you think a Jaat boy like me knows how to propose?” he joked, leaving everyone laughing.

Fellow guest Vijay Varma couldn’t resist teasing him, saying, “I’m sure he must have taken a ghee carton to propose!”

Jaideep didn’t deny it. In fact, he doubled down on the idea, recalling the exact words he said to Jyoti: “There won’t be any shortage of milk and ghee in the house. Now the choice is yours.”

The episode featured Jaideep alongside Vijay Varma, Jitendra Kumar, and Pratik Gandhi.

After graduating from FTII, he started with small roles in films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012), ‘Commando: A One Man Army’ (2013), ‘Gabbar Is Back’ (2015), and ‘Vishwaroopam II’ (2018). He slowly rose through the ranks with gritty performances in mainstream cinema, catching the audience’s attention in ‘Raees’ (2017) and ‘Raazi’ (2018).

However, it was the Amazon Prime Video series ‘Paatal Lok’ in 2020 that changed the game for Jaideep. His portrayal of troubled cop Hathiram Chaudhary earned him widespread acclaim and a Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

Since then, Jaideep has continued to impress with versatile roles. In 2022, he was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘An Action Hero’. In 2023, he appeared in ‘Jaane Jaan’ and ‘Three of Us’, winning critical praise once again.

Most recently, he took home the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in ‘Maharaj’ (2024).
