The BJP central leadership is aiming for a major breakthrough in Kerala in the upcoming local body and Assembly elections. In a high-level meeting held here on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed the party to operate with the goal of “Mission Kerala.”
A key objective of “Mission Kerala” is to capture the Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur corporations in the forthcoming local body elections. These two corporations are considered BJP strongholds where the party has a significant presence. In addition, Amit Shah instructed party leaders to aim for power in 10 municipalities and to secure victories in 21,000 wards across the state.

The BJP had performed well in the previous elections in both the Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur corporations. Party leaders believe that gaining control of these corporations would give the BJP a significant boost in Kerala’s political landscape.
Amit Shah was in Kerala to inaugurate the BJP’s new state office and attend the party’s workers’ convention. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that the local body elections should be seen as a stepping stone towards the larger goal of forming the government in Kerala in the 2026 Assembly elections.
