She continued by saying, “He was wearing a white T-shirt with the Delhi Police logo and was unable to provide credible explanations about his supposed posting in the Delhi Police. A fake Delhi Police ID card, forged appointment letter, and other documents were recovered from his possession.”
During interrogation, Kumar confessed that he had impersonated a sub-inspector to deceive female acquaintances, including staff members of the Delhi Police.
The accused then said he had created a fake identity using Photoshop and procured a Delhi Police uniform from the Camp area in Delhi.
He was preparing for competitive examinations and had no formal employment with any government department, the senior officer added.
The police have confiscated a fake Delhi Police ID card which was marked as PSI, a forged appointment letter, a handbag containing blank case diaries and fake documents, and a mobile phone with photographs in a Delhi Police uniform.
“A dedicated investigation team was formed, and Kumar was arrested on the basis of evidence collected,” Rangnani added.
The investigation revealed that Kumar had contacted a female Delhi Police staff member via social media, posing as a 2024-batch Sub-Inspector posted at IGI Airport.
“The officers are probing further into this case and are getting details of Kumar’s involvement in any other criminal activities apart from the impersonation,” the senior officer stated.
