Two pilots are feared killed as an IAF fighter plane crashed near Bhanuda village in Rajaldesar region of Ratangarh sub-division of Churu district in Rajasthan on Wednesday.

The aircraft was probably on its routine sortie when it caught fire and fell with a big bang in a deserted field on the outskirts of Bhanuda. The onlookers found two burnt and mutilated bodies, which are believed to be of the pilots. Soon after, villagers informed the police and Army authorities, who later reached the spot along with fire tenders.

Superintendent of Police Jai Yadav has confirmed the recovery of two bodies, which are yet to be identified.

The origin and destination of the sortie of the plane were not known yet. Unconfirmed reports said that it was a Jaguar plane that might have taken off from Ambala or Suratgarh.

The official version of the mishap by the IAF or the Police was still awaited.
