Actor-turned-Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has opened up about her early experiences in politics, and she isn’t sugar-coating it.
In a conversation with spiritual leader Atman in Ravi (AiR), the actor revealed that while she is trying to understand her new political responsibilities, the ride hasn’t exactly been enjoyable.

Speaking honestly about her transition from Bollywood to the political arena, Kangana admitted that the shift hasn’t been smooth or particularly fulfilling. “It’s like social service,” she said. “Earlier I used to fight for women’s rights, but this is a whole different level.”
One of the major surprises, according to her, has been the kind of requests she’s received from constituents. From broken drains to pothole-ridden roads, people have been approaching her with everyday civic issues.
But when she explained that these problems fall under the state government’s jurisdiction, she was told to fund the repairs herself.
“People literally told me, ‘Madam, use your money and get it fixed,’” she said.
Kangana also put to rest any speculation about her aiming for higher office. “I don’t think I’m competent to be the PM of India,” she said bluntly. “Nor do I have the passion or the drive. This isn’t my background.”
She reflected on her life in the film industry, calling it a “selfish” existence, one focused on luxury, style, and ambition. “I want a big house, a big car, diamonds. That’s the life I’ve lived,” she said.
In a moment of self-reflection, Kangana added that she isn’t trying to portray herself as a selfless figure or a martyr. “This isn’t some grand sacrifice. I don’t romanticise that kind of life, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I don’t have that in me.”
Meanwhile, fans of her cinematic work have something to look forward to. Kangana is going to team up once again with R Madhavan, her ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ co-star, for a psychological thriller. The project is already generating buzz.
