With the arrest of a youth from Assam, the South-West Delhi Police have solved a blind murder case of a 22-year-old youth, who was strangled to death by his own roommate in an inebriated state after an altercation.

The accused has been identified as Binay Lamba (26), who fled to Assam after the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West District), Manoj C said that information about the incident of murder was received on December 12, at the Kishangarh Police Station. The caller informed that a youth named Resham Kumar (22) had been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in an unconscious condition by his brother and had been declared dead by the doctors.

A police team reached the hospital and shifted the body for post-mortem. During initial examination injury marks on the mouth and throat of the deceased were found. The post-mortem report revealed that Resham was strangled and murdered.

A case of murder was registered at Kishangarh Police Station and investigation was taken up.

During the investigation, Police analysed CCTV footage around the spot and identified Binay Lamba as one of the suspects. When police searched for him, he was found absconded.

Police started to trace him and found him hiding in Assam. On the basis of technical surveillance the police team nabbed the accused from Assam.

The accused disclosed that he used to do housekeeping work in Chennai. He came to Delhi in search of work, when he met Resham and Sundar Sharma. He started living with them in the Kishangarh area.
On the day of the incident, they consumed alcohol together and got into an altercation in an inebriated condition. In a fit of rage, he killed Resham by strangulation.

Further investigation into the matter is being carried out.
