Stock market fails to hold on to opening gains, selling seen in heavyweights
The overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms dropped to nearly Rs 406.2 lakh crore from nearly Rs 408.5 lakh crore in the previous session.
The Sensex rose as 178.74 or 178.74 per cent to touch 39,230.80 at 1216 hours. Similarly, NSE Nifty moved 46.60 or 0.40% to reach 11,632.95.

Top gainers in the Sensex were -Yes Bank (7.07%), Coal India (2.73%), Reliance (1.98%), Larsen (1.88%), Maruti Suzuki (1.24%).
On the other hand, top losers are— M&M (-1.09 %), Bajaj Auto (-0.68%), IndusInd Bank (-0.37%), Bharti Airtel (-0.38%), Tata Motors (-0.18%).

Markets have gained for 5 consecutive sessions, experts believe that overall breadth has improved drastically and the institutional buyers are finally participating.
