Senior Army and IAF officers on Sunday paid tributes to Major Chitresh Singh Bisht in wreath-laying ceremonies at Rajouri and Jammu before his body was flown to his hometown in Dehradun for the last rites.
The 31 years old major was martyred on Saturday when an IED planted by Pakistani troops on the track on the Indian side of the LOC exploded in the Naushera sector of Rajouri.
At about 3 pm during sanitization operation, mines were detected on the track. Major Bisht, leading the Bomb Disposal Team, defused one of the mines successfully. While neutralizing another mine, the device got activated and the officer suffered grievous injuries and attained martyrdom.

Major Bisht belonged to Dehradun, Uttarakhand and is survived by his parents.
