In the wake of Bharatiya Janata Party forming a government in Karnataka even after falling short of eight seats, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that the country would mourn the defeat of democracy.
The Congress leader took to Twitter and said BJP’s irrational insistence on forming the government was a mockery of Indian constitution.

Meanwhile, BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Thursday at the Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru. The oath was administered by Governor Vajubhai R Vala.
To protest against the Governor’s decision of inviting BJP to form the government BS Yeddyurappa’s swearing in as CM, Congress leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ashok Gehlot, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal and Siddaramaiah sat on a dharna at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Vidhan Soudha in Bengaluru.
A few minutes before participating in the protests, Karnataka ex-CM Siddaramaiah told reporters that they will inform people how BJP is going against the Constitution.

“The matter is pending before the Court. We will go to the people and we will tell them how BJP is going against the Constitution,” Siddaramaiah told reporters.
According to the media reports, Congress lawmakers, who stayed at a luxury resort on the outskirts Bengaluru over the fear of poaching, will also participate in the protests held by Congress senior leaders.
