Punjab: Congress demands alcohol, dope tests of all Assembly members, including Bhagwant Mann

Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh on Friday constituted a Committee to review and prepare a report on farmers suicide in Punjab. An official spokesperson said that the Committee has been constituted in compliance of the resolution put forward by Punjab chief minister (CM) Captain Amarinder Singh during the second Assembly session held on 19 June.
The spokesperson said that Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria will be the Chairman of this committee. While legislators Nathu Ram, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Najar Singh Manshahaia and Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra have been appointed as members of this committee.

The spokesperson further said the committee will meet family of farmers who had committed suicide to probe the reasons behind suicide. "The Committee would subsequently prepare comprehensive report with suggestions and recommendations to curb such kind of incidents", said the spokesperson.

The Committee would also dig out the reasons for poor economical condition of the farm labourers and also suggest ways to bail out this downtrodden community from economical crisis, added the spokesperson.
