A BJP leader from Maharashtra, Ravindra Bawanthade, was on Wednesday arrested on rape charge, a week after a video of him kissing a woman in a bus in went viral.
According to reports, the woman lodged the complaint after a video clip of Bawanthade kissing her inside a luxury bus went viral on Tuesday.

Banthwade, 48, works as a supervisor at a school in Chandrapur district and the woman who registered complaint against him is a former student of the school.

She alleged that Bawanthade promised to marry her, besides arranging a job for her.
Bawanthade was arrested by the Nagbhid police from Bramhapuri on Tuesday morning and has been sent to police custody till July 6 for interrogation.
On June 27, the accused was travelling from Nagpur to Nagbhid in a private bus with the woman when he was caught on the CCTV kissing her.
The accused was absconding since the complaint was filed against him.
Bawanthade was the party in-charge of Armori assembly constituency in the district during the 2014 state elections.
