Chinese technology giant Xiaomi on Monday launched ‘Mi MIX 2’, an upgrade from last year’s Mi MIX, which will be available in China from September 15. Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 comes with 6GB RAM in three versions – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB – with full-screen display.

“Mi MIX gave everyone a glimpse of what the phone of the future would look like. It has pioneered the trend of full-screen display smartphones. With Mi MIX 2, the future is now here,” said Lei Jun, CEO and Co-founder, Xiaomi, in a press statement.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 features a 5.99-inch screen with 18:9 full-screen display for more viewing space and a better immersive experience.

The Mi Mix 2 in comparison to the original Xiaomi Mi Mix sports 11.9 percent smaller body and is 2.5 percent thinner, says company. Inside, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. The handset sports 12MP primary rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor and a 5MP front facial recognition camera.

The company also announced Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Special Edition which features full-ceramic body, and is backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. Rest of the specifications are same as the Mi MIX 2 standard 6GB RAM variant.

In addition to Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, the company also announced ‘Mi Note 3’ smartphone, and the ‘Mi Notebook Pro’ laptop. With 16MP dual-camera and 5.5-inch display, ‘Mi Note 3’ is a larger version of Xiaomi’s Mi 6 launched earlier this year. Powered by a 3500mAh battery, the device will be available in China from September 12.

Xiaomi’s Mi Notebook Pro is a high-performance laptop equipped with Intel Quad-core processor and ‘NVIDIA GeForce MX150’ graphics, which delivers smooth gaming experience with stunning visuals. The 15.6-inch laptop comes with full-HD screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the touchpad for easy unlocking of the laptop.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 comes is priced at CNY 3299, which is roughly Rs. 33,000, for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version. The other variants of 128GB and 256GB storage are priced at CNY 3599 and CNY 3999, respectively.

The Mi MIX 2 Special Edition 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version with full ceramic body will cost CNY 4699, roughly Rs. 47,000.

Xiaomi India’s product manger on Twitter has confirmed that Mi “MIX 2 is coming to India” as well. To note, Xiaomi did not launch first generation Xiaomi Mi MIX in India last time around, so it will be interesting to see if they actually get this high-end smartphone for the fans here in the country.
