Around 50 huts gutted in Dum Dum fire
A fire broke out in the slums around Dum Dum's Sudhir Shur College area this afternoon. Explosions were heard in succession. The incident of fire broke out suddenly in the slum in the Chatakol area of Dum Dum.
Putting together the services of Fire officers working under various departments in Haryana, the state government has set up Directorate of Fire Service.
Separate Department of Urban Local Bodies-cum-Fire Service has been created under which the services of all Fire officers or officials working in various Fire stations under Municipalities and Fire Stations of Market Committees, under Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, in the state will be integrated with effect from coming April 1.
An official spokesperson from Urban Local Bodies Department said that the services of these officers and officials would be under the control of newly created Directorate of Fire Service. This will be in accordance with the Haryana Fire Service Act,2009 and as per the provisions contained in Haryana Fire Service, Group-A,B,C and D, Rules 2016, he added.

The expenditure in connection with their service would be met out of the consolidated fund of the state with effect from April 1. Also,all assets and liabilities of Fire Service of local authorities would stand transferred and vest in the government under the control of Directorate of Fire Service, Haryana with effect from April 1.
