Seeking explanation from those government schools where students performed very poor in Class X and XII examinations, the Haryana government has issued notices to such 160 government schools where result was between zero to 10 per cent.

Additional chief secretary, school education, PK Das said that notices have been issued to the heads of these schools asking them to explain why the students performed so poor in Class X, XII exams. If their clarification is not found satisfactory, action would be taken against those schools' heads, he added.

It has been informed that they could be charge-sheeted under Rule 7 or 8 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment & Appeal) Rules.Tally shows that out of these 160 schools, 28 schools have got 0 per cent result including 26 in Class X while two in XII examination.

As many as 30 schools succeeded in achieving merely 0 to five per cent result while 102 schools could only achieved 10 percent result. Das further stated that even below 50 per cent result is not acceptable but 10 per cent result is very serious issue.

Now the department has two objectives, first seeking explanation from the schools performing badly and second is how to improve the result next time, he added.
