Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a productive meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, reaffirming the growing India–Italy Strategic Partnership.

“The India–Italy Strategic Partnership is growing from strength to strength, greatly benefiting the people of our nations,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

PM Modi and PM Meloni discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation across sectors such as trade, investment, technology, and global strategic partnerships.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, emphasising the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

The meeting underscores the strong bond between Modi and Meloni, often referred to as “#Melodi” on social media. Their personal rapport has significantly contributed to the strengthening of India–Italy relations in recent years.
