At Steve Jobs theatre the successor to the iPhone XR, Apple iPhone 11 is launched with two new additional flagships, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. The three phones will be available at $699, $999 and $1,099 respectively. All three phones will be open for preorder from September 20 onwards.
Speaking about the physical appearance, the iPhone 11 does not look too much different from the iPhone XR, in fact, they both look quite similar with their 6.1-inch display, and the notch at the front of the Face ID camera. However, this year, Apple is adding several new colour options including purple, white, green, yellow, black, and red. Whereas the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will be available in a matte finish in shades of green, space grey silver and gold.
The segment where Apple had brought the biggest change is its design of the rear cameras. Last year’s iPhone XR had a single 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, but the iPhone 11 is equipped with a dual-camera system with an additional 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera that supports 2X optical zoom. Another addition to the camera feature is that it allows you to see outside the frame so that you can now see the details of your frame with an ‘ultra-wide’ perspective.
With the iPhone 11, Apple has proved that it takes its cameras seriously. Hence, it is adding multiscale tone mapping that deals with highlights depending on their locations. High-key mono portrait effect is another addition to the latest features. They have also worked on their portrait modes and now they work on animals as well.
Experts are taking Apple’s ‘Night mode’ addition to iPhone 11 as the major addition. With this upgrade, Apple can now compete with Google and Samsung devices like Pixel and Note 10 respectively. The Night mode helps in improving the quality of pictures taken in dark.
While recording videos, you can now switch between the ultra-wide or regular camera and the phone now supports 4K resolution up to 60 fps, a new extended dynamic range across both cameras, slow-motion, and time-lapse.
Even the front camera has been upgraded to 12-megapixel True Depth wide-angle camera, that can be rotated for landscape shots. Like the rear cameras, the front camera can also record 4K/60 video and slow-motion, even when you are recording a selfie video or ‘slofies’ as Apple calls them.
The iPhone 11 Pro comes in a 5.8-inch screen, while the Pro Max comes in 6.5-inch screen size. The display comprises of OLED panel, which Apple calls ‘Super XDR display’. The phones feature three rear cameras- 12MP wide camera, a 12MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens.
With the launch of these three new phones, Apple will now be lowering the price of iPhone 8 and XR to $499 and $599 respectively.
