The news was confirmed by Mallika on her Instagram stories where she shared a picture of her late father and along with it penned, "Our irreverent, fearless and extraordinary father, Vinod Dua has passed away. He lived an inimitable life, rising from the refugee colonies of Delhi to the peak of journalistic excellence for over 42 years, always, always speaking truth to power."
When the Indian Penal Code was enacted in 1860, the sedition law was not included.
On July 20 last year, the top court had extended till further orders the protection granted to Dua from any coercive action in the case.
Like the complaint lodged in the national capital, the FIR registered against the senior journalist in Shimla is also over his YouTube show on communal riots in Delhi earlier this year.
On June 9, Dua had also approached the Delhi High Court seeking quashing of FIR lodged against him. Dua has also sought investigation into the malicious and malafide activity of the police and an order seeking payment of Rs 1 crore under public law remedy for compensation for violating his fundamental rights.
The statement comes after the recent case of an FIR being filed against senior journalist Vinod Dua based on a complaint by Naveen Kumar, who was identified as a spokesperson of the BJP.
