Continuing his tirade against the ruling DMK, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and film star Vijay on Monday reiterated the claim of the TVK being a force of purity enjoying mass support and asserted that only it could defeat the ‘evil force DMK’ in the coming assembly election.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a blistering attack on the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) government in Tamil Nadu and claimed that the people of the state are now ready for change.

Interestingly, he also asked ticket aspirants from Puducherry and Kerala to get the applications since the Union Territory and the neighbouring state as well are also having assembly elections early next year.
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Thursday passed a resolution declaring its party chief, Vijay, as the Chief Ministerial candidate and inviting parties willing to support his leadership to join an alliance for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Calling the 2026 Assembly election a battle to retain the DMK government, he said the contest is between a Tamil Nadu that holds high its distinctive identity and a government of “slaves” beholden to Delhi.
