Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday revealed a massive ₹200 crore tax evasion racket in Punjab’s hospitality sector, exposing deep-rooted and systemic under-reporting across dhabas, eateries, restaurants, and fast-food outlets.
In a determined push to reinforce fiscal discipline and maximize revenue realization, Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Sunday announced that the Punjab Excise Commissionerate has intensified efforts to recover long-pending excise arrears inherited from previous SAD-BJP and Congress governments.
Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday said the state has registered an increase of 16.5 per cent and 20.87 per cent in revenue from Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Excise respectively during the first four months of the financial year 2023-24.
